Professorship of Education and Professorial Fellowship of Harris Manchester College

The Oxford Department of Education, uniquely in the UK, sustains the strongest of standards in both its teacher education and its research. As well as consistently achieving the highest grades in Ofsted inspections, the 2021 Research Excellence Framework evaluation placed the department as having the highest level of world-leading research for education research in the United Kingdom. These high standards are achieved through strong intellectual leadership which values the importance of research to all aspects of the department’s teaching.

You will be a scholar with an outstanding record of contributing to the intellectual research leadership of the department through your own programme of publications and research funding.

You will have an outstanding international reputation for research in your specialist area. You will contribute to programmes of research and teaching currently underway within the Department and will be expected to play a part in the intellectual research leadership of the Department as a whole. As well as teaching and supervision of graduate students you will lead a programme of research at national and international level and generate significant research income. You will also contribute to the research-related activities of one of the Department’s research themes.

You will be a Professorial Fellow of Harris Manchester College and a member of its Governing Body, which carries with it trustee responsibilities.
