Description:

The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director, Supply Chain and is responsible for the procurement of goods and services required by the J.D. Irving, Limited group of Companies.

Job Responsibilities:

• Procurement of goods and services
• Negotiate with vendors to secure terms
• Develop and maintain supplier contracts for both goods & services
• Improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
• Initiate new supplier setups, issue purchase orders, and change orders
• Enable business leaders to make informed decisions by providing options and recommendations based on data and analysis
• Provide leadership, training, coaching and development to team members
• Participate and lead effective vendor meetings to facilitate issue resolution and continuous improvement

Job Requirements:

• University Bachelor’s Degree in Business or MBA
• 8 years’ experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain working for an organization with global reach
• Preference for experience in organizations based in heavy industries
• Sound understanding of strategic procurement processes and contract language/structure – including RFP preparation, evaluation, contract preparation and negotiation
• Direct supervisory or people management experience
• Executive presence and communications skills
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skills
• Self-starter and results orientated with tight deadlines
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office are an asset
• Sense of urgency and ability to execute at a fast pace
• High energy

• Ability to energize, motivate and inspire others
