Description:
The Purchasing Manager reports to the Director, Supply Chain and is responsible for the procurement of goods and services required by the J.D. Irving, Limited group of Companies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Procurement of goods and services
- Negotiate with vendors to secure terms
- Develop and maintain supplier contracts for both goods & services
- Improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
- Initiate new supplier setups, issue purchase orders, and change orders
- Enable business leaders to make informed decisions by providing options and recommendations based on data and analysis
- Provide leadership, training, coaching and development to team members
- Participate and lead effective vendor meetings to facilitate issue resolution and continuous improvement
Job Requirements:
- University Bachelor’s Degree in Business or MBA
- 8 years’ experience in procurement, logistics, or supply chain working for an organization with global reach
- Preference for experience in organizations based in heavy industries
- Sound understanding of strategic procurement processes and contract language/structure – including RFP preparation, evaluation, contract preparation and negotiation
- Direct supervisory or people management experience
- Executive presence and communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and team building skills
- Self-starter and results orientated with tight deadlines
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office are an asset
- Sense of urgency and ability to execute at a fast pace
