About the job
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 7 years of Relevant Experience.
  • Project management certificate
  • Rail management certification
  • Trained in rail simulation and modelling.
  • Deliver on the development and approval of the criteria and specifications related to the civil design, ensuring enclosed documentation meets the functional and performance.
  • Ensure the development of an integrated design for the civil/structural and systems that would produce a fully functional network according to the customers’ needs.
  • Address and resolve design and development issues encountered with the civil design and closely monitor the PMC’s performance and delivery, in order to reduce the likelihood of risks and ensure timely handover of project deliverables.
  • Responsible for reviewing the PMC’s enclosed documentation pertinent to the civil discipline and issuing approvals where deemed necessary, in order to ensure Organization projects run smoothly and project stages are completed within set budget and timelines.
  • Remain abreast with the latest trends and practices in civil engineering by performing ongoing research on civil related technical issues, compiling findings and outcomes and generating reports mapped to cost and time effective recommendations.
Requirement
  • Perform feasibility studies including but not limited to site investigations and administer technical surveys (i.e., topography surveys, geotechnical etc.) to evaluate the civil discipline prior to developing detailed technical designs, in line with internally established policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to external stakeholders in the handover of assets by communicating and effectively liaising with the government authorities and bodies, the PMC, and contractors, in order to ensure a seamless transition takes place, in line with regulatory requirements and environmental regulations.
  • Provide input / feedback to ‘stakeholders relations’ unit with respect to land acquisition and obtaining respective NOCs.
  • Participate in the tendering process by playing an active role in reviewing enclosed technical documentation and contributing to the technical evaluation of bidders, in order to recommend the best suited bidder to be awarded the contract, in accordance with Organization scope of work.
  • Lead engineering workshops relevant to civil disciplines and provide technical training to better equip team members with the requisite knowledge, skills, and tools to perform day to-day operational assigned activities, in line with the Engineering scope of work.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities related to EIA, topographical surveys, hydrological and associated recommendations, permits, existing and proposed utility works and drainage along the railway tracks as well as all required rail facilities.
