Description:

Leads the fabrication yard construction effort for his defined scope of work. Plans, directs and leads the construction effort in applying the most cost-effective plan to completion and to lead the execution of that plan in accordance with our Corporate and Area guidelines and operating standards. Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day fabrication management of the project principally through the forecast and control of multi discipline labour. Responsible for implementation and co-ordination of the scope of work as related to construction onshore, pre-commissioning, loadout of the facilities in conformance with the requirements of the Contract, the Scope of Work, and in accordance with the Project Schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

Seeks guidance from the Construction Manager and Fabrication Management as appropriate before making critical and important decisions
Provides direction and makes decisions in pursuit of the project and area goals and objectives.
Provides project leadership to the yard Supervisors.
Sets standards of behavior
Solicits ideas from the team members in order to overcome any difficulties that may be encountered during the implementation of the project
Directs and coordinates his construction team in the execution of the project.
Fosters an environment for building team morale and builds consensus within the team.
Generates a sense of urgency among the team members in order to get things done
Holds the members of his construction team accountable for work performed per their roles and responsibilities.
Clearly delegates actions and responsibilities and defines deliverable requirements in terms of both scope and schedule to team members.
Concentrates on doing the Fabrication Project Superintendent’s job and allow subordinates to have independence in performing their functions, however get involved will all the important decisions on the projects and become familiar with all the relevant details.
Facilitates timely problem resolution with the construction team members.
Facilitates the interface between the construction team, the safety and quality departments.

Keep project and functional management apprised of ALL important items in a timely manner
Be a realist – see things and report them as they are, and not the way we may wish them to be.
Listen to project team members, supporting staff and company management
Think before acting – don’t be too quick to answer
Communicate with the Project team advising them of any pertinent issues
