Job Description
Responsible for the daily operation and Supervision of Radiation Therapy Service including the two Linea Accelerators, CT-Sim scanner, Brachytherapy and 3D planning. Supervises work activities within the area including assigning work schedule, explain duties and enforces safety regulations. Plans and coordinates daily schedule to provide maximum use of resources and most efficient service to the patient and physician and reports to Radiation Oncology Unit, Lead Therapist.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides work direction for the activities in Radiation Therapy.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Ability to provide leadership and guidance in identification, analysis and resolution of related problems.
- Prepares written documentation as required by the service, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports and other such reports
- Delivers a prescribed and planned course of Radiation Therapy, answers patient questions and explains procedures.
- Interfaces with Physicist, Dosimetrist, Radiation Oncologist at the initiation of treatment, consults with supportive care physicians, nurses and social workers.
- Reinforces recommendations given to patients by the physician, dietician, etc. Concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects.
- Observe patient for any unusual reaction or events and give assistance in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures.
- Maintain adequate records, statistics, documentation policies and procedures for radiation therapy.
- Plan the daily workload of the radiation therapist and directs the workflow so that the operation will function smoothly and without undue delay to patient and physician.
- Makes frequent random inspection of the designated areas for proper cleanliness and/or orderliness and strict adherence to radiation controls and safety procedures and coordinate with maintenance / facilities accordingly.
- Advises the designated staff of all policy decisions and protocol that’s are related to Radiation Therapy Service, Hospital and Company.
- Perform Daily QA and system checks on Radiation equipment as per department QA policy, Ensure preventive maintenance is done on time on all equipment in the department and Maintain Equipment inventory and coordinate with clinical engineering,
- Supervise and provides guidance, direction, and training to therapists.
- Maintains patient workflow at machines. Provides leadership role to therapists at simulation and treatment machines and has the ability to minimize distractions.
- Act as Aria administrator and Epic coordinator.
- Ability to act as fire warden and liaising with safety champion and RSO
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Radiation Therapy.
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Radiation Therapy.
- Passed the examination given by the American Registry of Radiology Technology (A.R.R.T) or its equivalent from their respective country.
- Must possess broad general knowledge in the field of Radiation Therapy.
- Meets the Saudi commission for health specialties requirements.
- Must proficient in English language. Arabic desirable
